AICTE: All India Council for Technical Education

AICTE is an acronym stands for All India Council for Technical Education. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a statutory body of Government of India responsible for planning and coordinated development of Technical Education throughout the country.

AICTE comes under Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. It is established in November 1945 first as an advisory body and later on in 1987 given statutory status by an Act of Parliament. 

What does it do

AICTE makes proper plan for development of the technical education and management education system in India. It is the only organization that approves an engineering college in India.


The main headquarter of AICTE is located in New Delhi. its regional offices are located in Bhopal, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kanpur, Guwahati and Gurgaon.
